Angels

What is an angel ?  Why do they look like humans with wings ?  This is rediculous,  the  human body could not support the attachment of wings, and would not have the required muscles to operate them.
There seemed to lots of angels visiting many hundreds of years ago, Were the ancient writers mistaken ? Were they all dreams ?
I think they really did see them, but not as they are depicted in traditional art. I can't believe that so many people in many different places could make them up.
I think that if we could see them today, we might understand them better.   
Ancient people would only have seen animals with wings fly, so to see a human form using some equipment that allowed them to fly, would have led them to believe that they were a type of wing.
They came down form heaven, but where is heaven ? We know that if we go up into the sky, we eventually end up leaving the atmosphere and go into space, which goes on forever.
If I were to ask a clergyman I am sure to get a very good descripion which makes no sense to a 21st century person.

The Meaning of Things

Do many people believe what is in the Bible ? or do they think it is Mumbo Jumbo.
Do you get annoyed with people who quote extracts from the Bible, completely out of context, as if it had some real significance.
To me , most of the Bible is a set of history books, edited to suite the Christian Church's desire to make everything a mystery. Why does it have to be a mystery, whats wrong with the simple truth ?
